VisneChem is the industrial lime and calcium carbonate solutions brand of Vişne Madencilik. Products are made at the group's three integrated plants in Adana and Kahramanmaraş — in pressure-type kilns, under end-to-end PLC automation and on fully enclosed handling lines.

The kiln line and the product range

Every tonne we sell is produced at the three integrated plants of Vişne Madencilik. The main production unit is built on pressure-type lime kilns: 5 at Çelemli and 4 at Narlı, nine in total, each rated at 250 tonnes per day. Combined daily lime capacity is above 2,250 tonnes; the plant-by-plant detail is on the our plants page.

What leaves the kiln is not shipped in a single form. Quicklime is prepared in separate size classes — lump, granular and ground powder; the hydration line makes hydrated lime and the packing unit makes bagged product. The split is not cosmetic: lump lime is for furnace charging and batch slaking, granular feeds continuous slakers, ground powder goes into dry injection and soil spreading. The lime hydration plant and packing unit at Narlı were opened on 17 April 2025.

At Çelemli the kilns are fed from a fuel preparation unit integrated into the plant: raw petcoke is dried, ground and delivered to the kiln there. Because the moisture and fineness of the fuel stay under the producer's control, calcination temperature can be held steady within a batch and between batches — a large share of reactivity and loss-on-ignition scatter is fuel-borne.

At the head of the chain sits the Çukurova / Gündoğan quarry. Limestone of 97% CaCO₃ purity and above is won by drilling and blasting, then separated on the crushing and screening lines into kiln stone, aggregate, crushed sand, by-pass and fill material. Since the purity and size range of the stone entering the kiln are decided here, the quarry is the first control point for lime quality.

End-to-end PLC automation

Every production step is tracked by PLC automation, and that covers the support units as well as the main line. The purpose of the automation is not to cut labour but to make the product repeatable from batch to batch: once the same recipe returns the same result, a specification stops being a target and becomes a commitment.

  • Calcination control

    Feed rate, fuel ratio and kiln pressure are held in closed loop. Because calcination temperature and residence time set the t60 reactivity and residual carbonate of the product, a deviation is corrected without waiting for the shift report.

  • Slaking and hydration

    Water-to-lime ratio, slurry temperature and retention time are tracked from the automation. If the temperature plateau of the slaking curve drops, the reactivity of the feed has shifted, and the water rate is reset accordingly.

  • Weighing, dosing and packing

    Silo outlets, belt weighers and the bagging line run on the same automation. The weight, source silo and time of every dispatched batch are recorded, and the certificate of analysis is tied to that record.

  • Filter and dust control

    Differential pressure and cleaning cycles of the bag filters are monitored continuously. A drop in filter performance turns into a maintenance request before any dust emission becomes visible.

On-site laboratory and batch traceability

Each plant has a laboratory that tests raw material and finished product while production runs. Samples are taken separately at the kiln outlet, from the silo and at the dispatch point, and the result comes back to production control within minutes. A laboratory inside the line means a deviation is seen within the hour rather than a shift later.

Which quantities are read depends on where the product is going. For quicklime: available CaO by sucrose titration to EN 459-2, t60 reactivity and total temperature rise by the wet slaking test, residual carbonate from loss on ignition, and size distribution by sieve analysis. For hydrated lime: free moisture, Ca(OH)₂ content and sieve residue. For limestone and carbonate products: CaCO₃ content and the impurity oxides.

Results are tied to the batch and issued with the shipment as a certificate of analysis. The enclosed production model

In lime production most of the environmental load comes not from the kiln but from the points where material is conveyed, screened and loaded. All conveying, screening and loading points in the plant are therefore inside enclosed areas.

The enclosed zones together with the production and production support units have been fitted with special bag-type filters and made dust-free. This pays off on the product side as well: enclosed conveying stops the fine fraction from being lost on the way and keeps the size distribution from drifting before dispatch.

Lime is itself an emission control chemical; a significant share of what we produce is used on flue gas treatment lines to capture acid gases. It would be inconsistent for a plant that does not enclose its own production to sell that product.

The enclosed model is not limited to the production lines; the production support units carry the same filter equipment. Dust and waste are managed under ISO 14001:2015 and energy consumption under ISO 50001:2018.

Stock capacity and dispatch

Silos and bunkers hold a total stock capacity of 21,000 tonnes. The function of that capacity is not storage but decoupling the cycle of the kiln line from the moment the customer calls: production runs at its own optimum while dispatch can be met on the day the order arrives.

The silos are not one single pool. At Çelemli, alongside 5 × 1,000 t of independent product silos there is 5,000 t of main product stock, 5,000 t of unscreened material and a 250 t optional silo; at Narlı there is 9,000 t of main product stock, a 1,000 t independent product silo and a 900 t by-product silo. The point of that independence is plain: different size classes and different reactivity bands wait without mixing, and one order's batch is not diluted by another.

Dispatch is by bulk tanker, big bag and 25 kg bag, and exports reach more than 30 countries. Which packaging goes with which size fraction is stated on the relevant product pages.

Technical support and commissioning

Lime is not a product you pick from a catalogue and be done with: the same specification gives two different results in two different processes. Product selection, dose calculation and commissioning are therefore work for the technical team. The operating ranges given on the product and application pages are a starting point; the final figure is measured in your water, your slag or your soil.   • Sampling and pre-analysis

    A sample from your process is evaluated in the plant laboratory: acidity and buffer capacity in wastewater, plasticity and optimum moisture content in soil, the oxide balance that sets basicity in slag. Product and size class are chosen after those measurements.

  • Jar test and dose curve

    Dosing is stepped through at laboratory scale, with pH, settling rate and sludge volume read together. The aim is not to find a single “correct dose” but to draw the dose–response curve and fix the operating band. On water and wastewater treatment lines this step decides annual consumption outright.

  • Commissioning and field tuning

    With the first shipment, the operating point of the dosing equipment is set on site: water-to-lime ratio in the slaker, concentration and line velocity for milk of lime, stoichiometric ratio for dry injection. Measurement points and acceptance criteria are left in writing.

  • Documentation and specification support

    Every shipment arrives with a batch-based certificate of analysis. The CE and ISO documents and safety data sheets required for export, public tenders or customer audits are issued on request.
