Quality and conformity

Our certifications

The three plants where our products are made are certified by independent bodies for quality, environment, occupational health and safety, energy and information security management. This page sets out which certificate covers which site and which process.

What a certificate says, and what it does not

A management system certificate is not praise for a product; it is the record of an independent body having seen on site that a defined activity is run the way it is written down. Three fields carry the actual information: the standard number with its edition year, the scope statement (which activity at which address) and the validity date. “We hold ISO 9001” therefore says nothing on its own — a certificate covering lime production in Adana means nothing for the quarry in Ceyhan.

The edition year is not decoration either: it fixes which requirements the audit was run against, and the 2022 edition of ISO 27001 is audited against a different control set than the 2013 one. The five standards are not run separately but inside a single integrated management system — one document structure, one internal audit programme, one management review.

Nor is the audit a one-off event: the initial certification is followed by annual surveillance audits and recertification at the end of the third year, and a nonconformity left open past its deadline can suspend the certificate. The certificates are issued to Vişne Madencilik, which operates the three integrated plants where our products are made; VisneChem is the industrial solutions brand for the lime and calcium carbonate produced there.

Standards and their scope

The table gives the five management system standards and CE conformity with the processes an audit actually looks at. A management system certificate is issued to the organisation, with the production addresses named one by one in the scope statement; CE attaches to the product and its place of manufacture — hence a last column that is not the same on every row.

Scope site by site

Although the certificate is issued to the organisation, the audit runs separately at every site: the auditor visits the address, reads that site's records and writes the findings for that site. What fuel and temperature records are to a kiln plant, drilling, blasting and rehabilitation records are to a quarry.

  • Çelemli plant — Adana, Yüreğir

    Commissioned in 2010, with 5 kilns and 1,250 tonnes per day; all five standards are in scope. The audit centres on kiln feed and temperature records, on the drying and grinding parameters of raw petcoke in the integrated fuel preparation unit, and on batch separation across the 5 × 1,000-tonne independent product silos: if it cannot be traced which quicklime batch went from which silo into which shipment, the quality record is incomplete.

  • Narlı plant — Kahramanmaraş, Pazarcık

    Commissioned in March 2021, with 4 kilns and 1,000 tonnes per day. Because the quarry, the crushing-screening plant and the lime plant form one integrated structure, the scope also covers quarrying. With the Lime Hydration Plant and Packing Unit opened on 17.04.2025, hydrated lime production and bagged despatch entered the same scope.

  • Gündoğan quarry (Çukurova) — Adana, Ceyhan

    A quarry and crushing-screening plant commissioned in 2013; there is no kiln here, so the scope covers extraction and sizing rather than combustion. Limestone of over 97% CaCO₃ purity, won by drilling and blasting, is separated into aggregate, crushed sand, kiln stone, by-pass and fill material. The weight of the audit falls on the blast plan and site safety, dust control, bench rehabilitation and particle size distribution records.

CE marking and the EN 459 lime standard

CE is not a quality award but a chain of declarations: the manufacturer measures performance against a harmonised standard, records the values in a declaration of performance (DoP), keeps the production behind it under continuous factory production control and, in the classes that require it, accepts the surveillance of a notified body. The mark certifies not the product but that declaration and the production control behind it. The framework is set by the Construction Products Regulation 305/2011/EU — the ground on which purchase specifications rest on the construction and building materials side.

For lime the reference is EN 459, and its two parts are read together. EN 459-1 defines and classifies building lime: calcium limes are divided into classes CL 70, CL 80 and CL 90 by their CaO + MgO content, purity rising with the class. EN 459-2 gives the measurement methods — available CaO determination, fineness and the reactivity test (the time to reach a 60 °C rise during slaking, t₆₀) belong to that part. “CL 90” is therefore not a marketing label but a class assigned against the EN 459-1 threshold using the EN 459-2 method.

For aggregates, CE conformity runs not through the lime standard but through the harmonised standards belonging to aggregates; factory production control records particle size distribution, fines content, particle shape and strength at defined frequencies, and in road infrastructure and asphalt work specification compliance is argued from exactly these records. The mark covers only products placed on the market as construction products: for the industrial grades used in iron and steel, in water and wastewater treatment or in flue gas treatment, conformity is established by the contract specification, the product data sheet and the batch analysis certificate.

Certificate copies and verification

No certificate images or PDF copies are published on this page. Certificates are live records that move with renewal, scope extension and suspension; an image sitting on a website enters a supplier approval file as a wrong attachment the moment it expires. A current copy, in the state valid on the date of the request, is issued through contact.

Four pieces of information are enough to speed a request along: which site (Çelemli, Narlı or Gündoğan), which standard, which product, and what the certificate is for — supplier approval file, tender annex, customs formality or customer audit.

If verification is needed at product level, a management system certificate is the wrong instrument: the chemical and physical values of a shipment are shown by the batch analysis certificate, issued separately against the batch number and despatch date. The validity of the certificate itself can be confirmed from the certificate number, the certification body and the accreditation mark printed on the copy.
